Causes
The main causes of the error might be the following:
- The file is protected and cannot be overwritten or it is located in a folder in which the user does not have writing permission.
- The file is being used by another person..
- You are trying to save the file on a non-rewritable media (e. g. a CD).
- The file is being used by another process (e. g. when synchronizing files, Dropbox temporarily blocks writing access)
In this case, the file can be overwritten again a few moments later. - You are working on Windows 10 and you have the "Controlled folder access" activated. What's this?
- You are working on macOS 10.15 or newer and the Privacy preferences does not allow the access to the folder where the file is stored.
Solutions
- Save your file with a different name, choosing a non-protected location, for example your Desktop, or a re-writable external media (e. g. external disk, USB drive).
- When you are using "Controlled folder access", add Banana Accounting to the white-list, adding the Banana.exe program, contained in the program directory - usually under "C\Programs\Bananaplus", to the list of enabled programs.
- If you are working on macOS 10.15 or newer choose Apple menu > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > Privacy > Files and Folders. Select the checkbox below Banana Accounting to allow it to access files and folders in that location.
