Account mapping

Introduction

Account mapping is the first step of the XBRL CH process.

The operating accounts of your chart of accounts need to be linked to the corresponding XBRL CH taxonomy concepts, so that the amounts can be calculated and related to each other when generating the reports for the XBRL CH file.

Without this mapping, the XBRL CH file cannot be created.

Phase A - Account mapping

To perform the account mapping, follow these steps:

  1. Open the accounting document with the year-end closed accounts. Before proceeding, make sure that the company's registration details have been entered and that the accounting period matches the one currently supported by the XBRL CH file (currently, 2025 accounting data).

Check the period of accounting

  1. Go to the "Extensions" menu, select "[DEV] Swiss Electronic Balance Sheet XBRL", the click "[DEV] 1. Account Mapping...".
  • This process processes the operating accounts in the open document, identifying those linked to the SME chart of accounts, so they can be matched to the chart of accounts required by the XBRL CH standard.

Swiss eBalance Mapping Dialog

  1. The "Swiss eBalance Mapping" dialog opens, showing a table with the operating chart of accounts and the proposed matches to the XBRL CH taxonomy concepts. Review the proposed mappings between your operating accounts and the XBRL CH taxonomy concepts, and correct any proposed mapping that does not reflect the nature of the account.

The table shows 6 columns:

ColumnWhat it indicates
AccountYour operating account number
DescriptionThe name of the account
SME Ref.The SME chart of accounts reference used by the extension to determine the corresponding XBRL CH taxonomy concept. Select an appropriate reference here to complete a missing mapping or correct a proposed one
XBRL DebitThe XBRL element to map the account/group to when its balance is Debit, as defined by the XBRL CH taxonomy
XBRL CreditThe XBRL element to map the account/group to when its balance is Credit, as defined by the XBRL CH taxonomy
XBRL StatusWhether the operating account of the row has been matched to an XBRL concept: "mapped" or "unmapped". Accounts the extension cannot automatically match will show "unmapped"
  1. Complete the missing mappings and correct any proposed mappings that are inaccurate.
  • Check that all accounts required for the report are mapped correctly and that no relevant account remains Unmapped.
  • Once this check is complete, you can continue to Phase B - Creating instance XBRL CH file.
