2024 VAT management for Banana Plus users
The new table with the 2024 VAT codes, which you can import into your file, is already available on the Transition to 2024 VAT Rates (German) page. By importing this table, you can automatically update the VAT codes in your accounting. This way, you will already be able to record transactions with the new rates, if needed.
New Swiss VAT Statement, free until June 30th 2024
To allow all our users to smoothly transition to the new VAT rates and start operating immediately if needed, we have decided to offer the Banana extension for the Swiss VAT Statement 2024 for free until June 30, 2024, for all Banana Plus users..
Starting from July 1, 2024, for businesses subject to VAT that wish to obtain the new VAT Statement automatically, the Advanced plan of Banana Accounting Plus will be required at a cost of CHF 149 per year.
If you don't have a subscription yet, or are due to renew it soon, we recommend upgrading to the Advanced plan of Banana Accounting Plus! You will then have everything you need to better manage your VAT 2024 and have access to several other functions of the Advanced plan that greatly speed up your work, such as the Filter and the Rules for the completion of transactions.
Distributing plans in this manner ensures cutting-edge solutions, continuity, and stability to the Banana program, even in the face of potential future updates to operating systems and regulations. All the while, we are able to keep our subscription prices unchanged, especially for the Professional plan, a working tool primarily aimed at freelancers, associations, and individuals.
This extended timeframe provides everyone with the opportunity to experience the advanced features, evaluate the benefits, and decide which plan to continue without pressure.
Recording with the new 2024 VAT rates in 2023
You will probably receive invoices in 2023 which need to be registered with the new 8.1% VAT, for example if you issue or pay annual subscriptions (the 2024 part must be invoiced with the new rates). The FTA has made the new form for declaring VAT at 8.1% available, which can be used from the 3rd quarter of 2023. Therefore, from July 1st, 2023, you can start registering with the new VAT rates, both with the effective method and the flat rate method, even with Banana Accounting Plus.
VAT recordings for 2024 until June 30, 2023
If you need to record transactions with VAT related to services provided in 2024 during the 1st semester of 2023, you can refer to the page VAT Recordings 2024 until June 30, 2023 (German) where we explain the steps to follow.
For users of Banana Accounting 9 and earlier versions
If you are working with Banana 9 or an older version:
- You can manually enter the new rates in the VAT Codes table. It is NOT possible to automatically import the 2024 VAT Code table.
- You can obtain the VAT Report from the Account1 menu. It is NOT possible to obtain the VAT Statement because the new 2024 VAT Extension cannot be used.
If you manage VAT and are still using Banana Accounting 9 or an earlier version, we recommend upgrading to the Advanced plan of Banana Accounting Plus right away. This way, you will be fully prepared for 2024 and can immediately benefit from all the other advanced features!
Banana Plus offers several improvements that will allow you to work even faster. Users who have transitioned to Banana Accounting Plus have expressed high levels of satisfaction and have experienced notable time savings in their accounting responsibilities.
