This page summarizes the key concepts regarding the collection and processing of data related to the use of the Banana Accounting software and customer support. For more details, please refer to the following pages: Privacy Policy and Banana Accounting and Privacy.
Banana.ch SA adopts an approach that gives the user full control and independent management of their own data, as such information is neither accessible nor manageable by us. Therefore, the user is fully free to manage and protect their data as they see fit.
Banana Accounting has no access to user data
Banana Accounting has features that allow users to manage their information independently, without Banana.ch SA being able to control or access your data through its software, for example:
- The files and documents managed by the program are saved on the users’ local systems.
- The user can choose where to store their data.
- It does not use the cloud to manage your files, but allows you to use whichever cloud service you prefer.
- The user can choose the system and method that best suits their needs to encrypt and protect accounting data.
It follows that the user of the software is the owner and responsible for the protection of their own data, since Banana.ch SA neither collects nor processes such data.
Customer support for using Banana Accounting
If support is needed to resolve issues or optimize software use, the user may request an analysis of their case by contacting the Support team, according to the type of subscription they have, and can choose which data to share, in compliance with the terms and conditions of use.
The handling of individual support requests may take place via email or other communication tools. In general, the support service requires the following information:
- A description of the issue.
- A breakdown of the steps that caused the problem.
- If necessary, the submission of a sample file – preferably without sensitive data – but with the settings that triggered the issue.
- In complex situations, if necessary, the sharing of an accounting file, preferably with anonymized data.
- Do not share personal data or other information you consider sensitive with Banana.ch SA.
- The user has the possibility to create an original copy and delete or modify their personal or sensitive data before any sharing.
Banana Accounting does not contain any functionalities that allow Banana.ch SA to access the software remotely. Within the scope of support services, it is therefore the user who, if necessary, sends the information needed to resolve their case. In this context, it is the user who decides which information to share with Banana.ch SA. The information provided will be treated by Banana.ch SA confidentially.
Therefore, users are requested not to share personal data or other information considered sensitive, for example by anonymizing the data in the file, since Banana.ch SA does not know the confidentiality level required for such data.
It is important to clarify that if the user decides to share files containing personal data, such sharing does not constitute a delegation of data processing. As a result, Banana.ch SA does not qualify as a Data Processor under data protection laws (cf. David Rosenthal, "Controller oder Processor: Die datenschutzrechtliche Gretchenfrage", in Jusletter of June 17, 2019, marginal notes 100-103 and example at the bottom of page 61).
It is therefore the sole responsibility of the user to ensure that the use of Banana Accounting complies with the data protection laws applicable to them. In this context, Banana.ch SA plays no role, neither as Data Controller nor as Data Processor.
