Error Rename: %1

This message is displayed when the Rename command has been used and the rename operation fails.
The second part of the message contains a detailed description of the error.

Cause

The most common causes include:

  • the new field value is not valid
  • the new value is the same as the previous value
  • the new value is empty

If the field to be renamed is a link to a document, the following conditions may also occur:

  • the file to be renamed was not found
  • a file with the new name already exists
  • the new file name or path is not valid
  • the new name contains invalid characters (/, \, :, ?, *, |)
  • the user does not have the required permissions

Solutions

Verify that the new value in the table cell is valid.

If the field represents a link to a document, also verify that:

  • the file to be renamed still exists
  • the new name is not already used by another file
  • the user has the required permissions to rename the file
  • the new name is valid and does not contain the following characters: /, \, :, ?, *, |
  • the storage device is accessible and has no errors

Note: the rename action for a document link can only change the document name, not its path.
